This is the first real round-up since I started using NetVibes as my feed reader too. I had to get used to saving posts by clicking "read later" as opposed to the old Google Reader standby of "starred."
So here are a the best of the "read later" bunch:
- Tomorrow, Rick Librarian, from just down Ogden Avenue, will be speaking about the appeal of true stories at Reaching Forward. He has shared some of his handouts and slides here.
- Over on Book Group Buzz my pal, Kaite Stover, passed on a list of book club choices for men.
- The Edgars, arguably the most prestigious Mystery award, will be announced tonight. This link should work to find the winners anytime.
- Reading the Past had this interesting guest post about using primary source accounts of the First Crusades. It is a very interesting post by an author showing some of the process that goes into writing accurate historical fiction.
- Don't forget that Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. Here's a link to what my local comics shop is doing to celebrate.
- This has been everywhere, but I just love it. From the PEW Internet and American Life Project, 94% of parents think the library is important. Two great things right off the top here. 1, these parents are a large voting block to ensure library funding. 2, parents pass on their values to their children, and if the value is that libraries are important, that is good for all of us.
- Full 1hr 22 min audio from Junot Diaz' appearance at the NYPL this week.
- A 2 minute homage to one of my all time favorite books is here.
- Booklist kicked off their annual Mystery Month yesterday. Always among their best work.
- Speaking of month long celebrations, Stacked is running "Show Me the Awesome" in May. They are letting librarians share their work. It's a month of self promotion and it will all be listed here, with daily updates.
Thanks for sharing these links. I bookmarked some of them.
