Monday Discussion: Death Bracket Preparation--Speculative Fiction

This is part of a series which began here.

Yes, I know last week's grouping of Crime Fiction that included mystery with thriller, suspense, and psychological suspense was huge, but for our display purposes, we need larger categories just so we have enough room.

That being said, here is another big category--Speculative Fiction which includes Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.

I will start with a few favorites of my own.

Fantasy: Connie Willis, Jasper Fforde, and Neil Gaiman
Science Fiction: Kim Stanley Robinson and Neal Stephenson
Horror: Joe Hill, Jonathan Maberry, and Brian Keene (but for more horror suggestions, go to RA for All: Horror)

Please let me know your favorites to help add to the nomination process. We are more than halfway done.  The Death Brackets will go public in November, but I will post the finalists on this blog sometime in October.

  3. Fantasy: Mercedes Lackey, China Mieville, Neil Gaiman

Science Fiction: David Weber & Joe Haldeman

Horror: Colson Whitehead, who is probably not considered a horror author, but whose Zone One immediately comes to mind as one of my most remembered zombie tales. (and, BTW, I really like Joe Hill, too)
