Monday Discussion: Summer Reading Plans

I know I threatened to not post anything but reviews until I caught up, but I had requests to still do the Monday Discussion, so here it is.

Many people have a summer reading list or project that they like to tackle.

Me, I am going to read WWI books in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the start of the war.  I will try to get in 1 a month over the summer.  It was one of my overall reading resolutions for 2014 and I have read 1 so far.

What about you?  Do you read a certain type of book in the summer? Are there new releases you are interested in? Are you reading books set in a certain location for armchair or actual travel?  Now's your chance to share it here for today's Monday Discussion.

Need some ideas?  Here is the Reader's Advisory Online list of Coming Soon Books.  Here is the Early Word Summer 2014 posts.  Here is everything people are tagging #summerreading on Twitter.

I plan to read the rest of The Good Theif's Guide series by Chris Ewan.

I'm a lover of historical fiction. I am currently working my way through WWI fiction and non fiction books. A good woman's/nursing perspective memoir on the WWI experience is "Testament of Youth" by Vera Brittain. Happy reading!

I have a whole shelf of books in a bookcase upstairs in my house. I look at them as I walk by with my twice weekly bag of library books. I am going to read those books! Darn it. I AM.

I don't really theme my reading based on season. I do, however, tend to alternate between heavily emotional books and fluffy, humorous books. I finally finished The Fault in Our Stars (just in time for the movie release) and it made me break down crying on my train commute. So, now it's time for something funny and refreshing. On the list are Dragonbreath by Ursula Vernon, Hero by Alethea Kontis (sequel to Enchanted), and 2 biographies of Jim Henson. That bunch should be sufficiently whimsical to carry me trough the rest of the A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin.
