What I'm Reading: Horror Column in January 2022 Issue of Library Journal

I have 8 reviews in the January 2022 issue of Library Journal. Below are the titles with my three words and links to my full draft reviews.

I want to remind everyone that I craft this column very deliberately to suit public library needs. Every single title is a great edition for all library collections. I do not allow myself more than 3 stars out of the 8 titles I review in each column. These are all Becky approved. Now the details.

First the STARS
  • Felker-Martin, Gretchen. Manhunt. [band of survivors, thought provoking, action packed]
  • Katsu, Alma. The Fervor. [constant unease, multiple storylines. historical]
  • Madden, Hope. Roost. [original, constant unease, interesting frame]
And the remaining titles
  • Barnes, S. A. Dead Silence. [visceral tension, engaging narration, excellent world building]
  • Bjerke, André. Lake of the Dead [translation, mystery-ghost story hybrid, compellingly creepy]
  • Castro, V. Mestiza Blood: Stories [vengeance, unflinching, familiar tropes with new perspective]
  • Mayquist, Kit. Tripping Arcadia [dark, lush, 21st Century Gothic]
  • Williams, Missouri. The Doloriad. [macabre, shocking, deeply unsettling]
