RA for All Roadshow Visits Tampa Bay Library Consortium-- Day 2: Book Discussion Leadership Training

Today I am back at the Oldsmar [FL] Public Library, but today I am working with library workers from various libraries across TBLC  on book discussion leadership training.

Here is the full schedule with slide/handout access.

9:30 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m.-- Re-Charge Your Book Club: Reader’s advisor Becky Spratford has been leading  book clubs for over 15 years and has seen it all. In this program she will share her tips and tricks for success. All book groups go through their ups and downs, but re-energizing your group is not as hard as it may seem. Becky will walk you through how to confidently identify and utilize the best resources for leading a book discussion, pick books that will engender the best conversations, lead a more interactive discussion even with the most jaded of groups. Let her show you how to take control, shake things up, and rediscover why you started the group in the first place. And make sure to bring your specific issues and concerns about your own group as there will be plenty of time for all of us to help each other in our networking troubleshooting, and success sharing session.

There will be a 15 minute break between the formal presentation and the moderated discussion of your specific book discussion group concerns, and questions. Becky will answer your library specific questions and encourage the group to work together to look for solutions, both today, and going forward into into the future. Remember, you can do much more working together than you can possible do alone, so let’s start combining forces today to tackle more, together, tomorrow.
