Watch Marlon James and George R.R. Martin Talk About Epic Fantasy

Last night, Marlon James and George R. R. Martin met live on stage in NM to discuss all things fantasy and it was as awesome as you can imagine. Moderated by Andrea L. Mays, a professor of American Studies [my personal college major too], Ms. Mays asks great questions. Better than your average author interview ones. Even the most ardent fans of either author will learn something here. Also the two of them playing off of each other is amazing to witness.

There is also a lot about the appeal of stories, particularly epic fantasy, that you the library worker who works with readers, will learn from here.

The Verge has the official recording on Facebook here. You do not need to log in to see it. Simply click here. Whether or not you like epic fantasy or Game of Thrones, I would suggest taking an hour to watch this. Pair your viewing with my post from Friday about the unique appeal of Game of Thrones [which includes mention of James' trilogy], all in an effort to be ready for the patrons who will begin knocking down your walls trying to get their hands on readalikes any day now. [The series finale begins Sunday]
