The Comics Journal has been around since 1976 and still publishes in print and online. It is an excellent resources for review and information about graphic novels and comics. The Comics Journal Archive is easily accessible from the top of the main page.
You should add this recourse to your GN and comics references, right alongside the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table of the ALA (especially all of their recommended lists) and the Eisner Awards.
But today, specifically, I wanted to point you to this great interview on The Comics Journal Page with the longtime owner of a comics store. In the interview they talk about the evolution of the Comics industry since the late 1980s and talk about its current state. You want to get a general overview of the GN and comics landscape, this is worth your time.
