Horror Readers' Advisory Program 2025 Update: Slide Access and Free Book Discussion Visits

Today I am giving the updated for 2025 spooky season version of my program for the first time-- Horror Readers Advisory: How to Help Your Scariest Patrons. You can click here to get the slides.

If you want this program to help your library staff prepare for Halloween, contact me ASAP. It is ready to go. Ask your state library's CE person to reach out. I am doing FL today and WI and CT in a few weeks. How many states can I visit before 10/31? Let's find out.

I have limited time to offer this program though because my book-- Why I Love Horror is coming out on September 23rd and I will be on tour from September 18th through November 6th. You can click here to see the schedule and sign up to come see me in person with some of the authors in the book.

If you cannot make it to any of my in-person events, Parnassus Books in Nashville, home of my first book tour stop is offering signed, personalized copies of the book, if you order by 9/15. I will be there on 9/18 and will sign them all. Parnassus can then ship them for you to get right around release date. This is the ONLY store that is offering personalized copies of the book for pre-order.

I visit Nashville at least six times a year, so they might be able to offer more chances for me to sign copies in the future, but you should not wait. I will sign those books with your name, add a custom stamp, and you will get a sticker. Get on this great deal now by clicking here, but do it by 9/15.

Speaking of my book and serving your library patrons, I am already hearing from libraries who are planning to host book discussions of Why I Love Horror in the coming months. I love this because I not only lead a book club for 15 years, but I also have developed a training program for book discussion leaders.

I think Horror titles are an excellent option for book discussion, but I know that many of you might be a bit scared to try one out. In that case, my book makes the perfect entry into Horror for your book discussion group. You can read why some of the top authors in the genre today love it and maybe identify an author whose novel you would want to discuss in the future.

To help encourage more of you out there to discuss Horror with your book clubs, I am offering to come to your book discussions of my book, virtually and for free, if you contact me. I may even be able to bring one of the authors with me. Also for free. If you want in person, contact me and I can find a horror author near your to come and be a part of your discussion.

Spooky seasons is upon us. You need to be ready to help your "scariest patrons." I am here to help. Whether you use my textbooks or Why I Love Horror as your guide or you come to my training program, I can help you serve the hordes of readers who are hungry for horror.

Book Cover-- a mottled gray and white background with a tall and long black figure with claw like hands. It is black and ominous with a tiny head, Not too scary, just ominous. on its left, it is holding the hand of a small black human figure who is leading it confidently.
