As I mentioned on the horror blog yesterday, February is Women in Horror Month. This is actually year 12 of the initiative. The organizers are all about making it super easy for you to celebrate with them. They keep a crowdsourced calendar of events and provide an entire marketing and promotional kit, including logos, for free on their website.
You can go there to find a large number of virtual events which you can make accessible to your patrons, but I would like to point you to one in particular, one that I am a part of, one that you can offer live and recorded to your patrons for FREE.
Two conversations with Women In Horror moderated by me and author Gwendolyn Kiste on 2 Friday evenings in February [2/12 and 2/26 at 8pm eastern]. Entitled "Females of Fright: Zoom Edition," these talks feature 15 authors in conversation about the genre and the unique contributions of women within it. The groups are diverse and inclusive representing different experiences, points of view, formats [story writers, novelists, novellas, poets], and even different subgenres and styles from within the genre. Gwendolyn and I worked hard to invite a wide range of voices and every single one of them is a HWA member who has also given their time back to the organization. We are very proud and honored to showcase them all.
While have the awesome marketing graphics below which you can click on to register -- FOR FREE-- in the interest of accessibility, I am also going to list out the details in text. Please do not only consider joining us, but also consider pass it on to your patrons. Let them know about this interactive event featuring 15 authors! Each panel has at least 1 author that I know for sure your library has in their collection. I am hoping this panel will increase interest among you and your patrons to add a few others too.
You can simply share this post which has both links in one place to make it all easier.
The event will also be archived on the Horror Writers Association's You Tube page. Speaking of, that page has a lot of free content with authors including many bestselling ones that will be of great interest to your patrons. Why not make it accessible on your website all of the time as part of your RA resources?
And if all of this isn't enough excitement to get you to join us, here is a huge hint: one of the authors appearing on my panel will be announced as a Summer Scares author on 2/15.
Details and links below. It take 2 clicks, one per panel, to register to join us.
