Using Awards as a RA Tool: Locus, Anthony Awards, and Wilbur Smith Edition

This is part of my ongoing series on using Awards Lists as a RA tool. Click here for all posts in the series in reverse chronological order. Click here for the first post which outlines the details how to use awards lists as a RA tool.

There continues to be a plethora of literary awards announced recently. Below are the links with a quick description as to what the award is for. Please remember to refer to the links in the introduction to this post [above] as this is an ongoing series with lots of information about how to use awards lists in general.

Take a look at the last one in articular because it is a one of a kind away that will work with a wide range of patrons.

  • Locus Awards FinalistsThe Locus Science Fiction Foundation has announced the top ten finalists in each category of the 2021 Locus Awards. These results are from the February 1 to April 15 voting, done by readers on an open public ballot. Congratulations to all! The Locus Awards winners will be announced June 26, 2021, during the virtual Locus Awards Weekend
  • Anthony Awards NomineesThe Anthony Awards are given at each annual Bouchercon World Mystery Convention with the winners selected by attendees. The award is named for the late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), well-known writer and critic from the San Francisco Chronicle and New York Times, who helped found the Mystery Writers of America.
  • The Wilbur & Niso Smith Foundation Finalists: Launched in September 2015, the Wilbur and Niso Smith Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to empowering young writers, the advancement of the adventure writing genre and the promotion of literacy. The Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize is an international prize that supports and celebrates the best adventure writing today. The Prize is open to writers of any nationality, writing in English.
